Mastir Cannons
TFS Mastir Cannon system has been developed in house to desludge and resuspend hydrocarbon deposits in crude oil storage tanks, reducing the exposure risk for tank cleaning personnel carrying out cleaning activities in confined spaces.
TFS have provided a contracted service utilising the Mastir Cannons since 1995, the cannons are in operation globally with 30 units permanently installed onto tanks at one UK storage terminal alone.
The Mastir Cannons are designed to be installed primarily onto the existing manways of new tanks or tanks that have been cleaned, however with the use of TFS “Encapsulator” they can be installed onto tanks that require no entry desludging prior to tank clean activities.
The tank diameter will determine the number of cannons required to effect desludging.
Mastir Cannons are designed to keep tanks free from sludge thereby maximising tank utilisation, minimising process upsets, reducing corrosion of the tank floor plates by maintaining a clean floor and an open water draw.
Regular operation of a fixed installation Mastir Cannon as part of a routine sludge control strategy will have a dramatic effect on the scale of the tank clean prior to inspection and will minimise the amount of sludge to processed and disposed, thereby contributing to the tank cleaning personnel while minimising impact on the environment.
